The Last Levee |
|
The Last Levee is the culmination of a project started in the fall of 2005 by front man Rob Zimmerman near Lake Tahoe, California. Absorbed in the self-prescribed genre of “rock ‘n’ roll without boundaries”, the band bridges the gap between classic and modern musical fare. With their laid-back style and fluid dynamics, they deliver original music dripping with raw emotion and energy. The band’s compositions are unique and concise, while retaining a classic and familiar air that is immediately comfortable. Their inclusion of inspirational covers by artists such as The Allman Brothers Band, Jimi Hendrix, and The Black Crowes offers a glimpse of their musical foundation, while offering listeners a fresh take on timeless classics. In a club lounge or on a big stage, The Last Levee shares their joyous celebration of music indiscriminately. “When the Levee breaks, you’d better watch your step.”

Guitars & Vocals- Rob Zimmerman
Rob Zimmerman grew up in the mountains near Santa Cruz, California. An early interest in percussion and the piano led to a teenage discovery of the guitar, along with its wonderfully expressive nature. While exploring his interests in theatre and choir, Rob expanded his musical knowledge with the study of classical theory and composition. Finding himself torn between the acoustic realms and the life of the singer/songwriter, he returned to his true love of electrified rock and blues in a band context. As front man, songwriter and arranger, Rob is the heart and soul of The Last Levee. |
Hammond Organ & Keyboards- Tom Fleagle
Brought up in a house full of musicians and instruments, (church organ, xylopohne, syhtesizers, guitar and piano), Tom Fleagle was exposed to musical styles ranging from Bach to Neil Young. With classical training as a pianist, Tom found his escape from the world of sheet music through radio-friendly rock, and the unique expressiveness of the organ. A native of Pennsylvania, Tom spent years traveling and teaching abroad, immersing himself in foreign music and culture. The Last Levee’s “Ray Manzarek”, Tom takes care of both ends of the sonic spectrum, as well as providing backup vocals and harmonies. |
